Travel Advice

Look after yourself when your away

Check-up before take-off When your going away you should make sure that you remember all the important things and keep yourself safe and healthy. You should make sure that all medical matters are sorted before you travel, including dental or any medical matters. You dont want to end up having to worry about these things when you have waited all year for your holiday!!!

First aid kit

A simple kit is easy for you to make up and you can get all of the items from a chemist or supermarket, if you are in doubt ask your pharmacist.

  • Plasters or adhesive dressings
  • Insect repellent
  • Antiseptic cream
  • Water sterilisation tablets
  • Anti-diarrhoea tablets
  • Oral rehydration tablets
  • Aspirin
  • Calamine lotion
  • Sunblock

Medication

If you are on medication make sure that you have enough medication to last you through your trip because it could cause a lot of hassle trying to get the same brand when you are away. Travel insurance documents

Make sure your medical insurance is up-to-date. Take the documents with you, and don't forget the emergency phone number. In case of theft before you go, photocopy a spare copy to keep separate from your important documents.

Cardiovascular diseases account for about half of travellers' deaths overseas. If you think you're at risk, get a physical examination from your GP - and check your travel health insurance policy for pre-existing conditions coverage.

If you're the adventurous type, check that your travel insurance policy covers you for all extreme pursuits - not all policies will cover activities such as mountaineering, scuba diving, bungee-jumping, motorcycle riding, and white-water rafting. Which is especially important in Laganas where many holiday makers love to just hire a scooter for the day!!
